Philippians 3:12 – 16
Paul often used athletic metaphors to explain the struggles of the Christian life. Today we have three instructions for running the race that you might keep going with holy joy.
Delighting in Christ is not always our experience. Paul says that he counts EVERYTHING as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus his lord. This passage considers the superlative excellence of Christ and how we might delight more in Him.
We are to depend upon Christ alone for our acceptance with God. Paul gives his testimony – his woeful existence before meeting Christ, and the wonderful exchange which took place at his meeting Christ.
