John 19:23 – 37
John is at pains to show us that the crucifixion of Christ was ‘according to the Scripture’, that Jesus was delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God. We see here four aspects of His crucifixion that we might live in light of His finished work.

As they see the ministry of Jesus becoming more popular, John’s disciples react in jealousy; however, John’s reaction teaches us what it really means to be a friend of Christ.
In this passage which details the arrest of the Lord Jesus before His trial and crucifixion, Christ shows Himself to be very much in control and ordering events. In particular we see three means by which the Lord Jesus protects His people, which give strong comfort to all those who belong to Him.
